I was always a people – person. Even growing up I found myself being the chatty one during class and my parents laughed about the fact that I always had something to say to new people that I met. It seemed that I was naturally drawn to jobs that allowed my friendly personality to shine through. From being a hostess at a restaurant, to working at the front desk of the local YMCA, I managed to find myself helping people.
Some may find it unusual that an outgoing person like me would want to be an accountant; but it’s not just about the numbers. It’s about the people I get to meet and help on a daily basis. Sitting at a desk thinking about bookkeeping and taxes would probably make most people cringe if they think of themselves as a “people – person”, but it is perfect for me. I actually spend a lot more time face to face with my clients than I do my calculator.
And I’m happy to be able to work with the amazing team at Rotz & Stonesifer. As a Senior Associate in the Greencastle office, I am able to really get to know the local community and businesses by helping them with Individual returns, Corporate returns, Partnership returns, Non-profit returns, Estate returns, bookkeeping and more. I feel like I can actually change someone’s life by putting their accounting worries at ease, and that just make it all worth it.
I’m so happy that fate helped me to meet Lynn Rotz; I actually used to babysit his kids! After I graduated from Penn State and he heard I was looking for an Accounting Position, he invited me for an interview and the rest is history! It’s nice to be able to work in the same area where I grew up with people who already feel like family.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my own family – my husband Aaron and our adorable little guy Carter. I enjoy doing Zumba to burn off stress and I am a die-hard Penn State Nittany Lion fan; in the fall you can find me in State College on every home football Saturday.
