Some people think working with numbers is dull and boring, but I’ve known from a young age that I wanted to do just that. Steve Jobs said “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.” I love the task of reconciling to the penny, having deadlines to meet, tedious work, problem solving and challenges. I like the fact that every day is different and not doing the same thing over and over each day. I grew up loving math class and anything else that had to do with numbers and details.
Since receiving my Associate’s Degree in Accounting I have worked in the accounting field for nine years and pretty much loved every minute of it. I took a break from my career for eight years to take care of my 2 sons and during that time I typed Workers’ Compensation cases from home. As Mary Kay Ash said “My priorities have been God first, family second, career third.” I really like this quote and have been putting my life in this order. Communication is a key factor in working with clients and staff. We all like to hear good feedback, but we can grow from the negative as well. This only helps to make us stronger and more successful in the future.
As the Payroll Department continues to grow at Rotz and Stonesifer, I plan to grow with it too. I look forward to meeting with the clients I work with on a daily basis and being able to put a face with the voice; I think it helps to build a better client bond and makes my work more genuine.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband John and watching my sons, Gabe and Jake, wrestle for Waynesboro Wrestling program and play football for the Quincy Panthers. As a family we often go camping and relax at the beach and when I get a chance, I love sitting down to read a good book.
